Timber stud walls

Post by I_Rae »

Hi,

When entering the assembly of a wall constructed using OSB and spruce I beams for vertical wall studs with insulation between the studs can you make a composite wall assembly in WUFI Pro 7.1?

If so what % of thickness would you use for the stud in the insulation build up?

Or

Is it better to run two cases, one for the stud and one for the insulation between to analyse them in isolation

Thank you :D

Hi,
In the one-dimensional simulation, the critical cross-section is made through the insulated cavity. As long as there is no insulation on the inside of the studs, this is sufficient.
The section through the stud is usually not useful, as the lateral interaction between the stud and the insulated cavity is not taken into account.
If you need to access both, a two-dimensional simulation with WUFI 2D can be done.
