I think you are talking about the adaptive time step control, it is written over the box in which is enable option.
I´m not sure, if it is in the helpfile of Wufi 4.2, but in 5.0 it is.
What it is doing:
You enter a number of steps and a number of stages. If a convergence failure occurs, it calculates this time step again, dividing the time step in timestep/step number of steps. This is done for the number of given stages. In many cases it can reach result with less to zero convergence failures.
