Using the Met Office MIDAS database to build WAC files

Hello,
I am trying to use the MIDAS database to gather U.K. weather variables to input into WUFI. Has anyone had any experience of this? I am concerned I may have bitten off more than I can chew because the data is only searchable by weather station and not by variable so it is impossible to know which stations record all the data necessary for a WAC file. Are there any short cuts? Matt

I am now pretty adept at finding my way round BADC/MIDAS so would be glad to help if anyone else were granted access.
