simulating painted wood

I´m trying to simulate painted wood and instead of using membranes i have alternated the wood material from the database so that it has a much higher vapor diff. resistance. Is this a legit way to do it?

I have made a 1mm thick layer around my wood components and used the same wood but with a higher water vapor diff.res.

Good idea. But you should think about measuring your painted wood. No idea about the penetration depth of the painting. But you could perform a kind of a study to see the influence of the diff. Res. of your painting.
