Timber Frame in WUFI 2d

Hi guys,

I have recently moved from working with WUFI Pro to WUFI 2D as I am researching how different timber frame wall constructions perform in the Irish climate as part of my final year dissertation.

So the main graphs I am looking at are Moisture content in the studs and the RH graphs. Are there any documents with examples of timber frame analyses in WUFI2D?

Also I assume that as with WUFI Pro a moisture source of 1% of the driving rain must be placed behind weather barrier in compliance with ASHRAE 160?

I have performed all my calculations with Air change sources in my ventilated cavity and moisture sources in the outer 10mm of my stud/insulation area, is this correct?

Any advice would be great. I am just hoping that my calculations have been carried out correctly so I can draw an accurate conclusion.

Thanks guys,

Lee Corcoran

Dear Lee,

everything sounds to be OK. The rain water leakage behind the weather barrier makes not so much sense - but if it worsk it provides a double safety margin ;-)

To evalute the wood moisture you should use thicknesses of the would of at least 5 or 10 mm - not single grid elements.
