WUFI 4.0.1.208 Batch Big Problem

Post by Ned Lyon » Fri Jan 20, 2006 10:22 am -1100

I saved a file with 15 cases. I have the save calculation values turned off to keep the file small. Case 1 through Case 4 had been run and the rest were not. I saved this file with Case 6 highlighted. I batch processed this file with lower case -c, asked for a film -f and saved the work -s

I got a file back called xxx_6.fid but looking at the source file there was no calculation summary results for Case 6. There were results posted for Case 7.

Seems like you have some index number problem. I don't know if xxx_6.fid

ALSO

I found the above problem after trying a batch run with upper case -C. Unfortunately I also typed upper case -F. I was thrilled to see the computer calculating away, but when I returned several hours later there were no results.

I recommend the following:

1. change upper case -C to -A for All Cases

2. make the switches work with either upper or lower case letters

3. error check for a valid output -s, -f, -v before starting calculation runs

4. put an optional number with -c so that it could be -c or -c14 where -c calculates the active case and -c14 calculates Case 14, then I could index through my cases and still use -v if I wanted to.

Hi Ned,

if you run a batch job with only one case you will see that the result file is XXX_0.fid so as you see we have zero starting numbers here.

OK, you are right some things are not done in the best way. I have developed all these features about one year ago for internal use mainly. I thought now that this can be a good feature for everybody so we inserted the batch job section in the online help.

I will answer again on monday when i´m at the IBP:

a little more information

Yes, the index on a file name is always 1 less than the case. Things seem to work OK with upper case -C

With lower case -c, if the active case has no title, it seems that the batch processes the next case...

Can you describe this in detail? I´ve done a test run and it worked.
