New USA weather data available

Post by Michael Hurd » Mon Nov 26, 2012 5:04 am -1100

I see on the website that there is now additional USA weather data available for download, I am using WUFI Pro 4.2, will this new data work in this version? The directions on the website refer to a database number (24.72 or higher)that I am not familiar with.

This Add-On Installation provides additional climate data for more than 100 locations in North America, compatible with WUFI database version 24.72 or higher. Data source is ASHRAE Research Project 1325. Adaption for WUFI conducted by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Hello Michael,

the additional WUFI 4.2 does not support the additional weather files. They are avaliable starting with Wufi 5.2, which will be out soon. The also can be installed for Wufi 5.1 (actual version) together with an database update.

If you want to use the additional weather files you have to update your Wufi to version 5.x

Best regards,
Christian

New USA weather data available

I'm wondering what could be the difference between the weather files that are in my version of WUFI and the newer versions? It would seem on first blush that weather data is weather data - do the newer versions of the WUFI require additional data beyond my version?

It's just additional locations to choose from, so you get a denser coverage of regional climates.

Kind regards,
Thomas

Your answer confuses me a bit, if its just more cities/locations then it seems as if it should work in the older WUFI versions?

Hello Michael,

you are completly right, the data are the same. You can open the files with Wufi 4.2 as well. But for inserting them into the database, an update of the climate module is necessary. The update does not work with the Wufi 4.2 database as we stopped the development on that a few years ago.

Regards,
Christian
