US Climate Data

Post by JSchneider » Thu Aug 27, 2015 10:19 am -1100

I am consider creating a model for a roof assembly in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is important for this analysis that we work with accurate weather data as we will be monitoring the conditions at the interior of the building. The nearest weather station in the WUFI Pro software is Boulder, Colorado which is not very close by. Of the following options, which do you recommend?

1. Monitoring the actual weather at the building. This is an option however we need to make sure the monitoring system we acquire gathers all of the necessary data to make a WUFI climate file. Do you have guidelines for this?

2. Obtain a climate file from another source. Do you have any recommendations for a reliable source that documents all of the data WUFI requires?

Thanks,
Jenny

Dear Jenny,

there is a free download of additional US climate location which contains Colorado Springs.
See here:
https://wufi.de/en/service/downloads/#tab2
-> ORNL weather files.

For monitoring you should measure at least one year.
Additional information about the needed parameters etc. you can find here:

Another sources would be available at services like Meteonorm:
http://meteonorm.com/en/
They are selling weather files which can be used for WUFI.
