Validation of WUFI Ver. 6.5

Post by Micha » Sun Jun 26, 2022 8:55 pm -1100

Dear WUFI Team,

You have very kindly provided a template file and a helpful description for validation according to EN 15026.

( Program version: Ver. 6.5.3.2298; File: Pro_Benchmarktest.w6p)

When performing the calculation, the error message repeatedly appears:
"Material EN15026.
Materialfunktoin: Feuchterspeicherfunktion.
Wassergehalt höher als möglich (vergl. Porosität) (146>=146)." (Computer is in german)

It seems that the value match of moisture storage function and porosity is a problem for the calculation. However, the editing of the material data is blocked in the benchmark model.

One approach would have been to rebuild the model with slightly different material parameters. However, the specification requires these two values to be equal and a change would be a divergence from the standard.

Is there a procedure to carry out the validation according to the standard and to avoid this error message?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Micha

Hi Micha,

that project file used to work without problems. Apparently the numerical test on the equality of 1000*0.146 and 146 works somewhat differently now in the current WUFI version, we'll have to investigate...

You can avoid the problem by changing the porosity from the original 0.146 to 0.1461, or to 0.14601, or to 0,146001. This microscopic deviation from the test specification should be acceptable.

In the full version of WUFI Pro editing of the material is not blocked, but another click into the table of the moisture storage function may be necessary to clear the error flag and to activate the OK button.

Kind regards,
Thomas

.
Edit: I asked the programmer in charge of the dialogs and she told me that the user input consistency tests have indeed been revised and extended in January 2020. It is now required that the free saturation from the moisture storage table be less than porosity*1000, equality is not allowed.

After all, WUFI distinguishes between free saturation (the maximum value in the moisture storage function, the maximum water content which can be reached by capillary absorption) and maximum saturation (porosity*1000, the water content corresponding to the pore volume being filled completely). See here for an explanation why free saturation is usually less than maximum saturation.

Kind regards,
Thomas
