Loose fill perlite / vermiculite

Post by Matthew Smith »

Dear IBP,

Do you have full material property data for loose-fill perlite? If not, would mineral wool, recycled foam glass or expanded clay be suitable with adjusted properties to reflect basic properties of perlite, or can you suggest an alternative?

Regards,

Matt

No data, or no ideas? I have found the perlite boards, but these would radically overestimate capillary transport if used without any adjustment. Any response would be very much appreciated.

I think the perlite board maybe a good start. You may want to adjust the bulk density and yes a lower liquid transport sounds reasonable.
If you have a specific manufacturer in mind, just make him measure the properties and then things should be easy
