Hydrophobierung Klinker

Post by swedis »

Hi,
We are a group in the masters program Energy Efficient Building Design at Lund univeristy. We wonder if there is any way to find a material that has the same properties or is the same as "Hydrophobierung klinker"? It is a material that you put outside on your brick wall to eliminate the risk of water penetrating the bricks. Here is a video of the material at youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip2Bxxy_nTU .

Thank you in advance

Best Regards

Dear swedis,

the wall is probably treated with a water repellent. That changes the a-value and sometimes the µ-value of the first mils of the surface.

We have a tutorial how to handle that in WUFI. See http://www.wufi.de/frame_en_tutorials.html
-> Water-repellent treatment of facades

Hi again!

Im wondering, what would be an appropiate A-value (water absorption coe) for a material that repells water on bricks?
In your example you have used 0,5?

Best Regards

Yes, that depends on the repellent. You should see the data sheets of the producer.
In my opinion typical values would be around 0,02 to 0,05 kg/m²*sqrt(h). The µ-value should not change much.
