Classic 215 mm concrete block

Everything concerning the adequate application of WUFI in Ireland & UK depending on local conditions e.g. architecture, building codes, standardization, laws et cetera.

Classic 215 mm concrete block

Post by DavidHughes » Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:31 am -1100

Hi I am looking for the properties of a 'classic' 100 x 215 x 440 concrete block. From the web I see they are 28kg each so density is 2959 kg/m3, conductivity again given by web site is 1.13 W/mk but the other factors such as porosity etc are missing.

Given its ubiquity in Ireland and the studies done on this I am assuming the data is readily to hand?

conc block material data

Post by Joseph Little » Mon Dec 17, 2012 11:49 am -1100

Hi David,
I have some values for no-fines Irish conc blocks from CRH, who would be people you'd expect data from. I have no idea of the accuracy but the source I got it from would be well-informed in there. When I got this I didn't have ways of messuring rate of moisture uptake, I now do. :)

In the Spring I'm therefore going to do a test hopefully on more than one conc block wall and upload the combined data from my test and CRH for use of all.

Joseph
