Skylight dome model

Post by JanLau » Thu Nov 10, 2022 8:26 pm -1100

Hi!

I have problem with an old skylight dome. How should I model this quite high open airspace under the dome? I think that if I choose indoor conditions for the wall, results are not correct. Insulation is quite poor and temperature under the dome is not always +21°C when it's cold outside.

Hi Jan,
that is not easy to answer. I do not know any measurements or literature about that. My idea about that would be to set the interior climate and play around with the heat transfer coefficient. This should be lower up there. Maybe try 1-2 W/m²K instead of 8 W/m²K. By that the surface temperature will remain colder.
