Post by tmartincps » Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:21 am -1100

What material in the database can you use to model the following??

1. Standing seam metal roof
2. Steel metal roof deck
3. Glass Mat Gyp Coverboard

Thanks!

1. Standing seam metal roof
none, I would create a metal layer

2. Steel metal roof deck
available in the Pro 6.1 database

3. Glass Mat Gyp Coverboard
There are a generic gypsum and a gypsum product available in 6.1 Pro database. I would use one them and adjust thickness and perm value according to spec.

Hi tmartincps,

the metal roof/ roof deck I would take in account by just setting an sd-value in the boundary condition and switching off the rain at the same time. The calculation will be much faster that way.
Effective sd-values would be 25-50m for the standing seams and 300m if the seams are sealed. You also could assume there are no seams, which could be expressed by an sd-value of 1500m.

For the coverboard I would use a gypsum board, which should be rather similar.

Christian

PS: Did not see, that Manfred already answered. But it is better to use no diffusion tight layer directly on the surface in WUFI 2D. Use the sd-value instead.
