Thermal Inertia

Post by silmag » Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:15 am -1100

Hello

I am using WUFI Plus 3.0.3.

I would like to know if WUFI considers any type of thermal inertia of the components.

I have simulated the same building with interior insulation on one file, and in other file exactly the same but with the insulation placed by exterior side. The results are almost the same with minor changes which i believe hasn't to do with inertia. The walls have significant thermal inertia once they are made of granit with 0,50m thickness.

If WUFI does not consider thermal inertia by distinguishing the outer side from the inner side of the insulation placement, is there any way of considering it? Because we know inertia plays a major role on the thermal performance, especially in this type of buildings (granit masonary).

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Sílvia Magalhães,

of cause it does.

You can try to check -Retain calculation results- in the Reports: data & results Tab for an coponent, to check the heat flux on the internal side of an component. Or during the simulation, check the red arrow, the heat flux for an component.
