Create Model by vertices (area and envelope thickness) in WUFI Plus

Post by Alina0826 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 8:39 am -1100

Hello,

I have a question of creating building model in WUFI Plus.

When I create the model based on real dimensions, I need add vertices using gross area or net area.

When I create by net area, the thickness of wall assemblies will be added as the extra dimension in this area or it will become the thickness of boundary line?

Thanks!

Hello Alina0826,

you can choose how WUFI Plus treats the visualized geometry. Go to "Options > General" and you'll find the topic "Dimensions, visualized geometry". There, you can select, if the visualized geometry represents the inner or outer surface of the components. Select the option, that fits best for your needs.

Hello WUFI Team:

Thank you for your reply.

When I follow your step "Options-General", there is no topic for "dimensions, visualized geometry". The version of WUFI Plus I am using is V.2.5.4.0.

How I can find the tab you mention? Thank you vey much!

i am confused, the option should be there, even in verison 2.5.4.0

Nevertheless, WUFI Plus handels the building geometry like 2D surfaces. The component areas are always calculated with the geometry model, the polygones you setup with the vertices.

I mostly recomomend to use outer dimensions for the buidling model, if you setup the whole buidling geometry model (with might overestimated surface areas), and calculate the net volume (which is influenced by this outer-inner dimension setting if you set it from visualized geometry) by hand, user defined.
